Who we are

Our purpose is to increase the influence of civil society organisations (CSO) to articulate citizens’ needs and ensure an effective state that is responsive and accountable.

Our work

We build the capacity of civil society (CSOs) through grants and technical support to deliver greater impact. Read about our current work and previous achievements.

Learning

Sharing lessons, challenges and best practice is at the heart of what we do. Over the next five years, we will be building a body of evidence on what works.

Strengthening Transparency Accountability and Responsiveness in Ghana

STAR-Ghana is a multi-donor pooled funding mechanism - funded by UK aid (DFID), DANIDA, and the EU. We exist to increase the influence of civil society and work with the government to improve service delivery, with the ultimate goal of improving the accountability and responsiveness of Ghana’s government, traditional authorities and the private sector.

We are building on previous programmes, including the Rights and Voice Initiative (RAVI, 2004-10); the Ghana Research and Advocacy Programme (G-rap, 2005-11); KASA (2008-10); and the Civil Society Governance Fund (CSGF, 2004-10).
